What is the corporation tax rate?

The main rate is 25% for profits over £250,000. Companies with profits up to £50,000 pay 19%. Profits in between pay a sliding rate thanks to marginal relief.

When do I pay corporation tax?

For most small companies, corporation tax is due 9 months and 1 day after the end of your accounting year. Very large companies pay in instalments.

When is my CT600 return due?

Your company tax return, the CT600, must be filed within 12 months of the end of your accounting period. The tax itself is due earlier, so it pays to plan ahead.

How can I reduce my corporation tax legally?

Claim all allowable expenses and capital allowances, time big purchases well, consider company pension payments and check if research and development relief applies. We'll build a plan that suits your business.

Do I need to register for corporation tax?

Yes. You must register with HMRC within 3 months of your company starting to trade. We can do this for you as part of setting up.
